Email Setup

Enable your agent to receive and respond to emails. Each agent gets a unique email address.

How It Works

Each agent is assigned an email address in the format agent-slug.org-slug@agents.lenno.ai – the agent slug first, then the org slug, separated by a dot. When someone sends an email to this address, the agent processes it and sends a reply. (The domain is configurable per environment; production uses agents.lenno.ai.)

Setup

  1. Go to your agent’s Channels tab
  2. Click Add Channel and select Email
  3. The agent’s email address will be displayed
  4. Save the configuration

No additional transport setup is needed. Owner authority is deliberately unavailable on email until the mailbox-proof limitation below is resolved.

Owner Proof Limitation

Email does not currently mint owner authority. The Postmark webhook proves that Postmark delivered a payload; it does not prove possession of the exact mailbox in From. DMARC and DKIM can authenticate domain authorization, but that is not the same as proving which human controls a local mailbox, especially on a shared organization domain.

Until Lenno ships an explicit mailbox-possession challenge, both Postmark and raw SMTP remain unable to establish ownership. Ordinary senders are strangers and are ignored. A separately allowed or reply-correlated sender may converse only with restricted trust and cannot command the agent or approve gated actions.

Features

  • Inbound processing – emails are converted to text and processed by the agent
  • Threaded replies – responses maintain email thread structure
  • Attachments – the agent can process text-based attachments

Tips

  • Share the agent’s email address only with users who should be considered for the configured sender-trust policy
  • Email responses may take slightly longer than real-time channels due to email delivery
  • For best results, keep email content focused on a single topic per thread
